The parts that finish the job

Matting is loose laid, which makes it quick to fit and easy to lift for cleaning. What it still needs is a ramped edge wherever someone walks onto it, and a way of joining rolls together when the run is wider or longer than a single roll. These are those parts.

Everything here is the genuine accessory range for our open-grid and open-rib matting — the profiles are moulded to sit flush against the mat edge, not a generic trim that leaves a lip.

Which part fits which mat

Edging and snap track are height-matched to the mat. Getting this right is the whole job — a 14mm edging against a 10mm mat leaves a step.

How much do I need?

Edges that tuck against a wall, a bench plinth or a machine base do not need edging — only the edges people actually cross.

Fitting

• PVC edging — lay it against the mat edge so the square shoulder butts the mat and the ramp falls to the floor. Mitre the corners with a sharp knife and bond the joint with cold weld paste.
• Aluminium edging — position, mark, drill and screw down using the supplied plugs. Use the joining insert where two lengths meet and the right-angled insert at corners.
• Snap track — lay the base section under the two mat edges, press the cap section in over the top, and weld the two together with paste.
• Connector clips — lift the two mat edges, press a clip into the underside grid so it bridges both, and lower back down. Space them evenly along the joint.
• Floor hooks — drill, plug and screw into the floor so the hook catches the mat underside.

Common questions

How do I know which height edging I need?
Match it to the mat thickness: 14mm edging for our 15mm mats and 14mm roof matting, 10mm low-profile edging for the 10mm open-rib anti-fatigue mat. If you are unsure, send a photo of the mat's cut edge and we will identify it.

Is cold weld paste included with the edging?
Edging and snap track are normally supplied with paste. Order additional tubes here if you are running long lengths or want a spare — allow one tube per 10m.

Can I cut the edging to length?
Yes. A sharp utility knife is enough for PVC. Aluminium sections cut with a hacksaw or a fine-tooth blade.

Clips or snap track — which should I use?
Clips are quicker and cheaper and sit hidden under the mat, which suits most joints. Snap track gives a continuous bridged joint across the full length and is the better choice on a long run or where a trolley wheel might catch the seam.

Do I need to edge every side?
Only the edges people walk over. Edges tucked against a wall, plinth or machine base can be left as they are.
