Skip & Container Gloss Paint – Exterior Metal Refurbishment

This hard-wearing, oil-based gloss is formulated for refurbishing steel skips, shipping containers, waste bins and other properly prepared exterior metalwork. Its rust-inhibiting coating system provides a clean, durable finish that withstands routine weather exposure, knocks and abrasion while making painted equipment easier to maintain.

Surface preparation

Coating performance depends on a clean, dry and stable substrate. Remove dirt, grease, salts, loose paint and corrosion before application. Feather sound coating edges and abrade glossy surfaces to provide a mechanical key. Bare or heavily weathered steel should be prepared and primed with a compatible anti-corrosive system before the gloss coat is applied.

Application guidance

Stir thoroughly before and during use. Apply an even coat using the selected method, avoiding runs, excessive film build and application onto damp or contaminated metal. Allow the coating to dry fully before recoating or returning the asset to service. Temperature, ventilation, humidity, surface profile and coat thickness will affect coverage and drying.

Coverage planning

Use the 6–8 m²/L guide to estimate paint quantity for one coat, then allow for the number of coats, complex profiles, edges, welds and surface roughness. Select the required colour and pack size from the options above. For mixed colours, confirm the exact RAL, British Standard or other supported reference before ordering.

Use and safety

This is a refurbishment coating, not a repair for structurally unsound or severely corroded equipment. Follow the current product label and safety information, provide suitable ventilation and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Keep the container closed when not in use and protect stored paint from unsuitable temperatures.
