Flame-Retardant Silicone Sponge Sheet

This flame-retardant silicone sponge sheet combines a lightweight, compressible structure with the sealing characteristics of silicone rubber. Supplied as one 200 × 200 mm sheet, it is intended for fabricating gaskets, gap fillers and cushioning components for enclosures and equipment assemblies.

Selecting the correct thickness

Choose thickness to suit the available joint gap and the compression required to maintain contact across the mating surfaces. Thin grades suit shallow, closely controlled gaps; thicker grades can accommodate larger or less even interfaces but require enough clamping force to compress the sponge correctly. Black and Grey are not offered in every thickness, so confirm the exact combination in the live selector.

Cutting and installation

Cut the sheet with a sharp knife, punch or suitable die on a flat support. Use smooth internal radii and keep fixing holes clear of unsupported edges to reduce tear initiation. Align the fabricated gasket without stretching it, then apply even compression across the joint. Validate the cut geometry and compression in the intended assembly where sealing performance is critical.

Fire, ingress and service limitations

“Flame-retardant” identifies the supplier's material grade; the source page does not state a specific fire-test classification for this sale unit. Confirm the required test standard and obtain supporting certification for regulated applications before specification. The cell structure can resist particle and water penetration through the sheet, but it does not establish an IP or finished-enclosure rating. Final performance depends on joint design, compression, exposure, contact media and service conditions.
