Grit Bin 50 Litre – Stackable Polyethylene Salt Bin, 590 x 420 x 450mm, Yellow or Recycled Black

A compact 50 litre grit bin for the places a full-size commercial bin will not fit – beside a front door, at the top of a fire escape, by a side gate or in a small yard. Moulded from UV-resistant polyethylene with an angled lid, it holds 50kg of rock salt or de-icing grit and can be left outdoors all year.

Construction

A single-piece polyethylene moulding with a ribbed, tapered body and a separate angled lid. The taper allows empty bins to nest inside one another for storage, and the ribs stiffen the walls when the bin is full. The recycled black option uses reprocessed polyethylene; both grades are UV resistant so neither becomes brittle in sunlight.

Sizes

This is the 2 cubic foot / 50 litre size. Larger 200 litre bins are listed separately for car parks and estate roads.

Installation

Set the bin on any firm, level surface and leave room for the lid to lift clear. No fixing, tools or groundwork are required. On windy, exposed sites, keep the bin part-filled or place it against a wall.

Maintenance

Empty and rinse at the end of the season, then let it dry before refilling. Brush grit off the lid seating so the lid beds down properly. The moulding needs no painting or rust treatment.

Suitability and limitations

Intended for dry granular rock salt, white de-icing salt, grit or sand. The lid is not lockable and there is no padlock point on this size – for a securable bin, choose the 200 litre lockable pattern. Not suitable for liquids or for chemicals other than de-icing salt.

Compliance

Moulded from UV-resistant polyethylene. The black option is manufactured from recycled polyethylene.

Ordering

Choose Yellow or Recycled Black from the option list. Each bin is supplied individually with its lid. Salt is not included. Bins nest for storage, so multiples can be ordered and kept together out of season.
