IP66 GRP Surface-Mounted Electrical Cabinet

Surface-mounted IP66 electrical cabinet manufactured from fire-retardant glass-reinforced polymer (GRP). The grey enclosure provides a corrosion-resistant housing for electrical metering, distribution or control equipment in exposed installations, subject to correct specification, mounting and sealing.

Specification and layout planning

Check the 570 × 360 mm internal rear area against the equipment footprint, mounting arrangement and required clearances. Allow space for cable bend radii, glands, terminals, isolation devices and safe access. Consider heat dissipation and the environmental rating of every component fitted inside the cabinet.

Installation guidance

Install on a sound, appropriately designed support. Cable entries, drilled holes, fixings, glands and seals must be selected and fitted so they do not compromise the required ingress protection. The stated IP66 rating describes the enclosure when properly closed and sealed; it does not by itself certify the completed electrical installation. Installation should be specified and carried out by a competent person in accordance with the applicable electrical and site requirements.

Maintenance and finish

GRP will not corrode and the smooth external surface can be cleaned. The cabinet can be painted where required, provided the coating system is suitable for GRP and does not impair the door, lock, hinges, seals or identification markings. Inspect the enclosure and seals periodically in service, particularly after modification or impact.
