Polyetheretherketone PEEK Rod for Aerospace & Medical Applications 5mm to 100mm diameter

PEEK Rod is a high-performance thermoplastic known for its exceptional mechanical properties and temperature resistance. Ideal for use in demanding environments such as aerospace and medical industries.

Material Properties

PEEK, or Polyetheretherketone, is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic recognized for its high mechanical strength and temperature resistance, ranging from -50°C to +250°C. It is self-extinguishing according to UL 94 VO and complies with food safety regulations.

Performance Characteristics

PEEK Rod exhibits excellent high-temperature performance with a continuous service temperature of 260°C and a melting point of 343°C. Its tensile strength ranges from 90 to 100 MPa, making it significantly stronger than materials like nylon and acetal.

Applications and Uses

This versatile rod is used in various applications including seals, backup rings, valves, and components in the medical and aerospace sectors. PEEK Rod serves as a metal replacement in high-temperature applications and is compatible with vacuum environments.

Machining and Processing

Machining PEEK Rod requires specific techniques to prevent surface cracks. It is recommended to use silicon carbide cutting tools and to machine dry, with pure water as the preferred coolant to maintain biocompatibility.
