PTFE Natural Rod for Low Friction Applications 4mm to 120mm diameter

PTFE Rod is a versatile material known for its low friction and high chemical resistance. Ideal for various applications including seals and bearings.

Material Properties

PTFE, or Polyetrafluorethylene, is a thermally stable plastic with a melting point of 327°C. It exhibits outstanding electrical insulation properties and minimal moisture absorption.

Performance Characteristics

PTFE Rod demonstrates exceptional resistance to extreme temperatures, ranging from -260°C to +260°C, and can withstand short periods at +300°C. Its low coefficient of friction makes it ideal for applications requiring sliding action.

Applications

Common uses for PTFE Rod include plain bearings, gears, seals, and cryogenic applications. Its unique properties also make it suitable for fabricating long-life electrets.

Machining and Bonding

Due to its softness, PTFE can be challenging to machine. Proper surface preparation is necessary for bonding, as it requires treatments like flame or plasma before adhesives can be applied.

Safety Considerations

PTFE can release toxic fumes when heated above 400°C. Care should be taken to avoid exposure to high temperatures during machining.
