PVC Plastic Rod: 100mm to 180mm diameter

These PVC plastic rods are large-diameter, solid profiles designed for machining into a wide range of industrial components. Manufactured from rigid PVC, they offer a reliable balance of strength, dimensional stability and chemical resistance in a cost-effective form.

Available in diameters from 100mm up to 180mm and supplied in convenient 500mm or 1000mm lengths, these rods are ideal for turning, milling and drilling in engineering workshops, fabrication plants and maintenance departments. Grey and black colour options help you identify different applications or simply match existing assemblies.

Applications and Ideal Uses

These PVC rods are suited to a wide range of industrial, engineering and fabrication tasks where a robust, machinable plastic stock material is required.

• Machined components such as spacers, bushes, rollers and mounting blocks.
• Fabrication of custom fittings and connectors for pipework and ducting systems.
• Insulating parts and supports in electrical or instrumentation assemblies.
• Jigs, fixtures and non-marking stops for production and assembly lines.
• General maintenance, repair and overhaul work where corrosion-resistant parts are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can these PVC rods be easily machined on standard workshop equipment?

Yes, rigid PVC rod can be turned, drilled and milled using conventional metalworking or woodworking machinery with sharp tools and appropriate speeds. Using correct clamping and avoiding excessive heat build-up will help achieve a clean finish.

Are the rods suitable for outdoor use and exposure to moisture?

PVC offers good resistance to moisture and many common chemicals, making it suitable for many outdoor and damp environments. However, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause surface discolouration over time, so additional protection or painting may be advisable for long-term external use.

How do I choose the right diameter and length for my application?

Select a diameter that provides sufficient material for the finished component plus machining allowances, taking into account any turning or shaping required. Choose 500mm lengths for smaller parts or reduced waste, and 1000mm lengths if you need longer components or multiple items from one piece.
