Tufnol Whale Sheet SRBF for Mechanical Engineering Applications 1mm to 25mm thick
Price shown updates with the option you pick.
Tufnol Whale Sheet is a durable synthetic resin bonded fabric (SRBF) designed for mechanical engineering. Ideal for wear-resistant components and low voltage applications.
Material Composition
Tufnol Whale Sheet is made from medium weave cotton and phenolic resin laminated plastic. This combination provides excellent dimensional stability, allowing the material to be used in various mechanical engineering applications. The sheet is mid-brown with the cotton weave visible on the face and in the cut edge.
Mechanical and Thermal Properties
The sheet has a density of 1.36 g/cm³ and exhibits impressive mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of 68 MPa and a compressive strength of 310 MPa flatwise. It can withstand continuous temperatures up to 120°C and intermittent temperatures of 130°C.
Applications and Usage
Whale Tufnol Sheet is suitable for a wide range of applications, including gears, spacers, jigs, fixtures, and wear-resistant components. It is particularly effective in low voltage insulation applications.
Advantages and Limitations
This material is lightweight yet rigid, offering good electrical and thermal insulation properties. However, it is not suitable for high voltage applications or direct food contact.
