Tufnol Whale Sheet Synthetic Resin Bonded Fabric for Mechanical Engineering 1mm to 25mm thick

Tufnol Whale Sheet is a versatile synthetic resin bonded fabric (SRBF) designed for mechanical engineering applications. It offers high strength and wear resistance, making it ideal for various components.

Material Composition

Tufnol Whale Sheet is made from medium weave cotton and phenolic resin laminated plastic. This construction ensures dimensional stability and allows it to be used dry or lubricated with various substances. The sheet is mid-brown with the cotton weave visible on the face and in the cut edge.

Mechanical and Thermal Properties

The sheet has a density of 1.36 g/cm³, with a tensile strength of 68 MPa and a compressive strength of 310 MPa when flatwise. It can withstand continuous temperatures up to 120°C and intermittent temperatures up to 130°C.

Applications and Use Cases

This sheet is suitable for wear-resistant components such as bearings, bushes, and spacers. It is commonly used in low voltage applications and general mechanical engineering tasks.

Advantages and Limitations

The Tufnol Whale Sheet is known for its high rigidity, low weight, and excellent electrical and thermal insulation properties. However, it is not suitable for high voltage applications and can create dust when machined.
