Heavy-Duty PVC Grip Matting – 15mm Open Mesh Anti-Slip Drainage Mat for Wet, Oily & Cold Floors | Cut to Length or Full Rolls

Slip-resistant matting for floors that are permanently wet, greasy or cold
A 15mm two-layer PVC mat built for the floors that actually cause accidents — the wash-up aisle, the bottling line, the walk-in chiller, the parts wash bay. Liquid does not sit on this mat. It drops straight through the mesh and runs away underneath, so the surface your staff stand on stays drainable even while the floor around it is flooded.
The structure is a fine, dense open grid: narrow PVC ribs on a tight pitch, textured along the top for grip, forming small drainage openings across the whole surface. Because the openings are small and closely spaced there is no wide gap to catch a heel or a castor, and the two-layer build gives the springiness that makes it comfortable to stand on for a full shift. It stays flexible enough to roll up and carry out for cleaning.
Why this mat rather than a solid rubber one
- R11 slip rating, V10 drainage. Tested to DIN 51130. V10 is the displacement-space class — a measure of how much liquid the mat can take away from underfoot, which is the part most anti-slip mats have no answer for.
- Non-porous PVC. It does not absorb grease, blood, brine or coolant, so it does not go sour. Rubber and textile mats do.
- Works cold. Rated −23°C to +60°C. It stays flexible in a freezer instead of going brittle and cracking at the edges.
- Anti-fatigue. Manufacturer test data (University of Hertfordshire, 1997) records a 10% reduction in operator fatigue against a bare hard floor.
- Chemical resistant. Resistant to most acids, alkalis and oils — suitable for engineering coolant, food acids and standard caustic washdown chemicals.
- Lifts and rolls. Pick it up, hose both the mat and the floor beneath it, drop it back. No lifting a sodden rubber slab.
Two versions
Standard — available in black, blue and red. The plain mat, for general wet-area and workstation use.
Black with Yellow Safety Edge — the same mat with an integral bright yellow ramped edge down both long sides. Use it where the mat defines a pedestrian walkway through a working area and the edge needs to be seen, or where a trip edge has to be conspicuous under poor lighting.
Choosing a size — and where the money is
Three widths (0.6m, 0.91m, 1.22m) in three formats:
- Cut to your length — priced per linear metre, cut to whatever you specify. Right when the run has to fit an awkward gangway or a bench footprint.
- 5m and 10m full rolls — the economical option.
- Pre-cut modules (1.2m × 0.8m and 1.5m × 1.0m, black only) — factory-edged on three sides, ready to drop in front of a single workstation, bar station or machine.
Worth knowing before you order: a 10m roll works out around 25% cheaper per square metre than buying the same area as cut lengths. In black, a 0.6m × 10m roll is about £65.69/m² ex VAT against about £78.82/m² ex VAT cut to length. If your run is close to 10m, order the roll and trim it on site — it cuts cleanly with a sharp knife.

Where it is used
Commercial kitchens and pot-wash areas · bars and cellars · food processing and packing halls · walk-in chillers and freezers · breweries, distilleries and bottling lines · fish and meat handling · dairies · engineering workshops and parts wash bays · factory pedestrian walkways · poolside and changing rooms · commercial glasshouses and nurseries.
Edging and fixing
PVC ramp edging (several widths and colours), aluminium edging, connector clips, floor hooks and snap track are all available to order for this mat — use edging on any exposed edge that is crossed on foot, and clips where two runs butt together. Ask us for the right combination for your layout.
Cleaning
Hose down in place, or lift and pressure-wash both the mat and the floor beneath it. A diluted alkaline cleaner is fine at the manufacturer's recommended dilution. Do not use solvent-based cleaners.
Common questions
Will it take a pallet truck, trolley or forklift?
No. This is a pedestrian and standing mat. The open grid is designed to flex underfoot, and narrow hard wheels will deform and eventually split the ribs. If wheeled traffic has to cross the run, break the matting there and bridge the gap, or ask us about a solid-top mat for that section.
Is it safe for bare feet?
Yes — it is widely used poolside and in changing areas. The ribs are moulded and textured rather than abrasive, and the openings are small enough that it grips without being uncomfortable underfoot.
Will it survive a chlorinated pool environment or a caustic washdown?
Yes to both. The PVC is non-porous and resistant to most acids, alkalis and oils. For an unusual or concentrated chemical, send us the substance and concentration and we will confirm before you order.
Can I use it in a blast freezer?
It is rated to −23°C. Below that we would not recommend it — ask us instead, as there are low-temperature grades for colder rooms.
How do I cut it to fit?
A sharp utility knife is enough — run the cut along the line of the ribs where you can, and across them where you must. Allow for up to 2% reversion and fit it slightly loose rather than hard against a wall.
Do I need edging?
Only on edges people walk over. A run tucked against a wall or a bench plinth does not need it; a mat sitting in the middle of a gangway does.
What is the lead time on a cut length?
Cut lengths are made to your dimension, so they take slightly longer than a stock roll. Contact us with your length and we will confirm before you commit.
Not sure which size or colour?
Send us the dimensions of the area, what gets spilled on it and whether anything is wheeled across it, and we will specify the run, the widths and the edging for you. Cut-to-size is what we do — there is no charge for the advice.
