A walkway that becomes part of the roof — bedded into the liquid coating, so it cannot lift, creep or blow away, and the coating underneath is never walked on.
Liquid-applied roofs are the easiest roofs to damage with foot traffic. The coating is thin, it softens in summer, and every trip to a plant unit grinds grit into it. A loose-laid walkway helps, but on a coated roof there is a better answer: a walkway that is embedded into the top coat while it is wet, so the mat and the roof cure into one surface.
This is a 6mm open-grid PVC matting etched on both faces. The underside etching keys into the wet top coat; the top face gives an R11 slip-rated tread that stays clear because rain drains straight through the grid and evaporates. Once cured it is thermally stable, needs no fixings, and marks the safe route to every item of plant. Choose grey or yellow and a 0.6m or 0.91m wide 10m roll above. Longer rolls up to 50m are made to order.
EMBEDS INTO THE COATING
Laid into the wet top coat of the liquid roof system. The etched underside keys in, the coating rises through the open grid, and the mat becomes part of the roof. Nothing to lift, nothing to blow off.
R11 GRIP, DRAINS THROUGH
Etched top face rated DIN 51130 R11 with V10 drainage and ASTM F1677 1.0 dry / 0.8 wet. Rain runs through the grid rather than sitting on the tread.
PROTECTS THE MEMBRANE
Boots, ladder feet and toolboxes land on 6mm of flexible PVC instead of the coating. The mat contours to falls, upstands and uneven decks.
LIGHT AND QUICK TO FIT
3.7 kg/m², cut with a knife on site, rolled out and bedded in one visit as part of the coating works. No mechanical fixings and no penetrations.

Rule of thumb: if the roof is being coated or re-coated, embed the walkway now and it is there for the life of the coating. If the roof is already finished, take the loose-lay lattice instead. On TPO or EPDM single-ply, use the TPO walkway matting.

- Yellow — the usual choice. Reads as a marked safe route from the hatch and from a distance, so visiting contractors follow it.
- Grey — sits quietly on grey and white coatings where the roof is overlooked and the walkway should not dominate.

INSTALLATION
- Plan the route first. Hatch to plant along the line people actually walk, with a working area at each unit. Mark it out on the roof before the top coat goes down.
- Cut to length dry. A sharp knife through the grid. Cut fractionally long to allow for up to 2% reversion; it is stable once embedded.
- Apply the top coat along the route to the coating manufacturer's wet film thickness, then lay the mat into it while the coat is wet.
- Roll it in. Press the mat down so the coating rises through the grid and the etched underside is fully wetted. Add coating over the edges and any thin spots so the grid is locked in.
- Butt joints, never overlap. Adjacent rolls butt tightly end to end; the coating bridges the joint.
- Keep off it until cured for the coating manufacturer's stated cure time.
Always follow the coating manufacturer's instructions for embedding. Sequence and cure times vary between systems.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Routine: hose it down in place; a pressure washer clears grit from the grid. Non-porous PVC, nothing soaks in.
Annual: walk the route with the roof inspection and check the coating around the edges of the run is intact.
After works: sweep off screws, swarf and debris before they are trodden into the grid.

Which liquid roof coatings can it be embedded in?
It is designed for most cold-applied liquid roofing systems. Because coatings vary, confirm compatibility and the embedding method with your coating manufacturer before installation. Send us the system name and we will check with you.
Can I lay it loose instead of embedding it?
No. At 6mm with an etched underside it is made to be bonded in. For a loose-laid walkway use the 14mm open-lattice roof walkway matting.
Does embedding damage the waterproofing?
No. The mat sits in the top coat, above the waterproof layers, with no fixings and no penetrations. It protects the coating from foot traffic rather than compromising it.
Will it blow off?
Not once embedded. It is bonded into the coating across its whole area, which is why it suits exposed and high-level roofs where loose-laid matting is at risk.
Is it safe when wet?
Yes. The etched top face is rated R11 and water drains straight through the open grid. Clear snow and ice from any roof walkway before use.
Can I get longer rolls or cut lengths?
Yes. Continuous lengths up to 50m are made to order, and we can cut lengths to size before dispatch.
