Maintenance traffic is what damages flat roofs. Every visit to a plant unit, a solar array or an air-handling unit puts boots, ladders and toolboxes onto a membrane that was never meant to be walked on. This is the walkway that goes down first on a roof that gets the weather: an open-lattice PVC runner, 14mm high, laid loose along the access route so people walk on the matting and not the roof.
This heavy-duty grade is the upgraded version of our standard roof walkway matting. A redesigned base bar drains in four directions instead of two, so water never dams behind the run. A deeper-cut top bar lifts the slip rating from R10 to R11. The compound has improved UV weatherability, and the section is lighter at 5.8 kg/m² without giving up wind stability: it held to 125mph in laboratory testing. Choose light grey, white or yellow and a 0.6m, 0.91m or 1.22m wide 10m roll above.
FOUR-WAY DRAINAGE
The redesigned base bar lets water leave the walkway in every direction. Rain, dew and meltwater clear beneath it instead of ponding along the run, and the roof falls keep working.
R11 GRIP
Deeper-cut cross-directional top bars rated DIN 51130 R11, a full class above the standard grade, with V10 drainage so the tread stays clear in a downpour.
BUILT FOR EXPOSURE
Improved UV weatherability for roofs in full sun, service from -23°C to +60°C, and stable loose laid to 60mph with a 125mph laboratory rating. Phthalate free, resistant to most acids, alkalis and oils.
LOOSE LAY, NO FIXINGS
Nothing penetrates the membrane. Roll it out, cut to length on site, and lift or roll it back for inspection, recoating or re-roofing. The roofing guarantee is undisturbed.

Rule of thumb: if the walkway is going onto an exposed roof and you want it still doing its job in ten years, this is the one. If it is going into a plant room or under cover, the standard grade is enough and comes in black as well.
WHICH ROOF IS IT FOR?

COLOURS
Three stock colours, the same mat and the same price in each. Use the colour selector above to see each one in place.
- Yellow — the usual choice on a roof. Reads as a marked route from a distance and in poor light, so contractors who do not know the roof follow it.
- Light grey — sits quietly against grey and white membranes and hides rooftop soiling between cleans.
- White — for reflective cool-roof membranes where the walkway should not read as a dark stripe from above.
Black is made in the standard grade only. Other colours are produced to order for larger projects.
JOINING, EDGING & ANCILLARIES
Everything on one page — matting accessories: ramp edging, snap track, connector clips, floor hooks and cold weld paste. This mat is 14mm, so take the 14mm snap track and the 14mm x 60mm ramp edging.

INSTALLATION
- Follow the route people actually take — hatch to plant, not wall to wall.
- Sweep first. Clear grit, loose fixings and debris from the route before unrolling.
- Lay it loose. Unroll and let it relax flat — it contours to the roof falls and over upstands. Nothing is fixed, screwed or bonded.
- Cut on site. A sharp knife through the bars. Cut slightly loose against an upstand to allow for reversion.
- Keep outlets clear. Never bury a rainwater outlet under a joint — break the run around it.
- Butt, do not overlap. Fit clips or snap track where a section must stay joined.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
Routine: hose it in place, or roll it up and jet-wash both the matting and the surface underneath. Non-porous PVC — nothing soaks in.
Annual: walk the route with the roof inspection, clear leaf litter from under the run, and re-lay any section moved by contractors.
After works: lift the mat where trades have been working, sweep out screws and swarf, and re-lay.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is different about the heavy-duty grade?
Three things over the standard grade: a base bar that drains in four directions instead of two, a deeper-cut top bar that lifts the slip rating from R10 to R11, and a compound with improved UV weatherability. It is also lighter to handle at 5.8 kg/m² and rated to 125mph in laboratory wind testing.
Will it damage my roof membrane?
No — protecting it is the point. It is a flexible one-piece moulding laid loose, with no fixings and nothing sharp. On TPO or EPDM membranes use the TPO version.
Will it blow off?
It is stable loose laid in winds up to 60mph and held to 125mph on a flat platform in laboratory testing. For very exposed high-level roofs, tell us the site and we will advise on layout, clips or ballasting.
Does it come in black?
No. Black is made in the standard grade only. On a roof, yellow is the usual choice because it marks the route.
Is it safe when wet, icy or snowy?
Rain drains straight through the lattice in four directions and the deep-cut top bars give an R11 footing. It is designed to function down to -23°C. Snow and ice should be cleared from any roof walkway before use.
How do I cut it?
A sharp utility knife through the bars. Cut slightly loose against an upstand to allow for up to 2% reversion, or ask us to cut lengths before dispatch.
Do you have BIM objects and a data sheet?
Yes. The data sheet is in the Downloads section above; Revit and IFC objects are sent on request.
