A raised, drained floor you can lay in an afternoon

Where a floor is permanently awash — a wash bay, a bottling line, a plating shop, a trench run — the answer is often not a mat but a platform. These are rigid polyethylene open-grid tiles that lock together and stand 25mm clear of the floor on integral feet, so liquid runs away underneath while people work on a dry, drained surface above it.

Each tile is a 50 × 50cm moulded lattice with a textured top. They are stiff, not flexible: the grid carries up to 50 tonnes per m², which is what lets it span a channel or an inspection pit and be walked over safely. Lay them loose, lock them together, lift them when you want the floor underneath cleaned.

What it does that a mat cannot

• It lifts people clear. 25mm of air under the walking surface — the run-off goes beneath the grid, not around your boots.
• It bridges openings. Rigid at 50 t/m², so it spans drainage channels, gullies and pit covers and gives a walkable surface over them.
• It takes chemicals. LLDPE resists most acids, alkalines and oils — built for floors where detergents and process chemicals get spilled.
• It covers large areas fast. Lock-fit tabs, no adhesive, no fixings, no floor preparation and no site survey.
• It is reconfigurable. Unlock it and move it when the line changes.
• It is hygienic. Non-porous 100% LLDPE, which inhibits bacterial growth, and it hoses clean at pressure.

How much do you need?

Tiles lay on a 50cm module, so plan the run in half-metres where you can and cut the perimeter tiles to suit. Edge any exposed edge that is crossed on foot.

Spanning a channel or a pit

Grid, or a flexible mat?

Pick on what the floor is doing:

• These tiles — where you need to get above the floor: standing water, heavy run-off, chemical spillage, an opening to cover, or an area big enough that a raised platform makes more sense than matting.
• 15mm fine open mesh — wet floors where you want a flexible mat that rolls up: breweries, cold stores, poolside.
• 15mm wide open grid — kitchens and food halls, where the spillage carries solids.
• Cushioned foam matting — dry floors, where the problem is standing comfort rather than drainage.

Cleaning

Hose it at pressure in place, or unlock a section and lift it to get at the floor below. Because everything falls through the grid by design, the floor underneath is where the mess collects — put it on a cleaning schedule.

Common questions

How many tiles do I need?
Divide your area in m² by 5 and round up. Each box of 20 tiles covers 5 m².

Do the tiles need fixing down?
No. They lock to each other and the assembled area holds its own position. Edge the perimeter where it is crossed on foot.

Can I cut a tile?
Yes — a fine-tooth saw or a jigsaw through the ribs for the perimeter tiles. Deburr the cut edge.

Will a pallet truck go over it?
The grid carries the load, but small hard wheels ride better on a solid surface. Where a wheeled route crosses, tell us and we will specify a solid-top section for that strip and grid everywhere else.

Is it slippery when wet?
The rib tops are textured, and because the water is 25mm below the walking surface rather than on it, the surface stays drained.

Will it stand up to a caustic washdown?
Yes, at normal dilution. For a specific chemical and concentration, send us the details and we will confirm.

Can it go outside?
Yes — rated −23°C to +60°C.
