The mat for people who stand still all day

Standing on concrete for an eight-hour shift is its own injury risk. This is a 10mm anti-fatigue workplace mat built for that problem first: a two-layer PVC moulding of hollow tubular ribs that gives underfoot, takes the hardness out of the floor, and insulates the operator from a cold slab.

It also happens to be slip-rated R11 and self-draining, so it works where the floor is damp as well as hard. The top of every rib carries a fine etched texture for traction, and the narrow slots between the ribs let water, coolant and swarf drop through to the floor rather than collecting where someone is standing.

Why this one rather than a solid anti-fatigue mat

• Genuinely light. 4.5 kg/m². The ribs are hollow, so a full 10m × 1m roll weighs about 45kg rather than 100kg+. One person lifts it, hoses under it, and drops it back.
• It drains. Solid closed-cell anti-fatigue mats trap whatever lands on them. This one lets it through.
• Low profile. At 10mm it is the thinnest mat we stock, so it sits flatter in a walkway than a 15mm mat.
• Insulating. The trapped air in the tubular construction makes a real difference standing on a cold concrete or screed floor in winter.
• R11 slip rating, V10 drainage to DIN 51130 — the same slip class as our heavier 15mm mats.
• Cuts with a knife and contours to uneven floors. No adhesive, no fixings.

Which of our three workplace mats do you need?

All three are R11 slip rated. Pick on what is on the floor:

• This mat (10mm open rib) — dry to damp floors where the problem is standing fatigue: machine shops, assembly and packing benches, inspection stations, warehouse pick faces, workshop walkways. The lightest and lowest-profile of the three.
• 15mm fine open mesh — permanently wet floors: breweries, wash bays, cold stores, poolside. More drainage volume, and comfortable barefoot.
• 15mm wide open grid — where the spillage contains solids: kitchens, butchery, fish, bakery. The coarse grid lets food debris fall through.

Installation — loose laid

No adhesive, no fixings, no floor preparation. The mat is laid straight onto the existing floor. Its own weight and the grip of the PVC hold it, and as a single-piece moulding it contours to uneven floors rather than bridging them.

• Large areas — butt rolls together and join them with connector clips or two-part snap track, side-to-side or end-to-end.
• Exposed edges — fit the matching 10mm low-profile PVC ramp edging to any edge crossed on foot.
• Trimming — cut along or across the ribs with a sharp utility knife. Fit slightly loose rather than hard against a wall, to allow for reversion.

Choosing a size

Supplied as 10m rolls in three widths:

All three are a one-person lift when rolled. Rolls trim easily on site, so if your run is shorter than 10m, cut it and use the offcut at another station. For runs longer than 10m, butt two rolls and clip them together.

Edging, joining and fixing

All of it is on one page — matting accessories: ramp edging, snap track, connector clips, floor hooks and cold weld paste. This mat is 10mm, so take the 10mm low-profile edging and the 10.5mm snap track.

Cleaning

Because it is light, the easiest method is to roll it up, hose the floor, hose the mat and put it back. It can also be washed in place with a high-pressure hose. For a deeper clean use an alkaline cleaning fluid at the dilution the cleaning product manufacturer specifies. No special equipment is needed.

Common questions

Is this an anti-fatigue mat or an anti-slip mat?
Both, genuinely. It is R11 slip rated and self-draining, and the hollow tubular construction is what delivers the anti-fatigue and insulating performance.

Which way should the ribs run?
Across the direction people walk, where you can — the pendulum figures are about 25% higher across the ribs than along them.

What about forklift or pallet-truck routes?
This is built for standing and walking traffic. Where a wheeled route crosses, simply break the run at that point — or send us the layout and we will specify a solid-top mat for that section and the open rib everywhere else.

Can it go in a cold store?
Yes — it is rated to −23°C and the trapped air in the ribs makes it noticeably warmer underfoot than a bare floor or a solid mat.

Will it stand up to cutting oil and coolant?
Yes. It is resistant to most oils, acids and alkalis. For a specific coolant, send us the product and concentration and we will confirm.

Do I need to glue it down?
No — it is loose laid and holds its own position. In a busy walkway, edge it and clip the sections together.

How much does a roll weigh?
About 22.5kg, 33.8kg and 45kg for the 0.5m, 0.75m and 1.0m widths. All are one-person lifts when rolled.
